Effingham Embree
Effingham Embree got his start in the printing business at age 14 working with Caleb Bartlett. He worked with him between 1831 and 1839.
His father was a merchant at 278 Broome and his grandfather had been a famous silversmith and clockmaker. They were all named Effingham.

In 1867 when he became manager of the American Wood-Paper Company, (shown in the page banner) he reduced the price of paper by introducing chemical fiber, thus revolutionizing the industry.
